You’ll hate your friends, in a good way.
Party games should be easy to pick up and play. Don’t get me wrong- there’s a place for high-skill card games, but there’s also something special about being able to round up a group of friends and jump right into chaos.Doomlings gets this right. The goal is simple: score the most points. Each card (aka trait) has a point value, and most have effects or actions that allow you to score points in other ways, such as having a certain number of blue traits, or stealing your friend’s Kidney (yes that’s a thing). After everyone makes a move, a new age passes. When you hit three catastrophes, the world ends and you tally your scores. The genius lies in its simplicity. Everything you need is written right on the cards, and you can learn how to play in a matter of minutes. There is a ton of hidden strategy in how you can chain cards together to sabotage your opponents or maximize your own scoring. And when you start to get comfortable, there are several expansions for sale that add new ways to play. But in true party fashion, there’s plenty of surprises depending on what cards you draw and what the next age tells you to do, which keeps the game from being dominated by skill gaps. We’ve had games when the newcomer wins on their first try, and games when our big-brain friend absolutely smokes us!What really makes the game stand out, though, is how much character it has. Each card has its own cute creation and a light-hearted caption. It’s clear that the creators put alot of love into this game, and if you get the expansions, you’ll appreciate how the art style evolves to fit themes like dinosaurs and mythical beings.Simply put- you need to play this. I’ve made over 200 custom cards for my collection, so I can confidently say that Doomlings is worth your time!

Fun game!
Fun game, though it takes a bit to learn it. Highly recommend watching a YouTube video on how to play. Much easier to learn that way than the included directions. It’s never the same game twice as there are so many variables. Fun for young & old alike. Grandkids loved it.

Very complex
This game is very difficult to play off the cuff. I can see how it would be fun after really committing to learning the nuances but we had so many questions about game play it was frustrating. The instructions aren’t very explanatory. The idea is super cute and I want to delve into it more, but it’s not a game you can just quickly teach a newby or say, learn while also enjoying adult beverages… 😉

So much fun
I’m (37) the mom of 4, ages 11-21 and we play a LOT of board and card games. This game is first off all reaaalllyyy pretty 😍 love that! Secondly…it’s pretty fast paced so it doesn’t get boring during other people’s turns. The gameplay is familiar and easy to learn, but unique enough that we don’t feel like we’re playing a game we’ve played before. I love that the box has room for expansions, but also has placeholders so the cards aren’t in their just loosey goosey. One feature I LOVE is the way the cards are set up for each game. It’s done in such a way that you’re not just remixing the same set of cards for each game, you actually play with new ones.We got 6 or 7 new games for Christmas, and Doomlings was the favorite for several of us. Definitely worth the purchase!

One Of My Groups Most Requested
Requested often in the rotation for my gaming group. Easy to learn, lots of replayability especially when expansions are added, cute art, reasonable amount of skill and strategy (but definitely plenty of variance too). My gaming group is adults only but I’d strongly speculate children that aren’t crazy young would be able to understand and enjoy this without issue. In some very niche scenarios, especially with expansions and new mechanics, ultra-specific situations and interactions aren’t addressed in the rules and house rules need to be created to handle them, but as long as everyone is playing in good faith this shouldn’t be a problem. Have gotten way more than my moneys worth of enjoyment from Doomlings.

The first time through any game is really just a walk-through to understand the process, rules , and flow of the game. But from our second game on, it’s been very simple and entertaining! There are plenty of trait cards, so with 3-5 people playing it 10 times so far, we’re still discovering new and interesting Traits that hadn’t tuned up before. The games only take about 20-30 minutes, so you can play for a bit when you’ve only got a few minutes or play it a few times to fill an evening. It’s simple enough for kids to understand yet complex enough to keep everyone interested. No regrets on this purchase!

The game is very entertaining. Easy to understand just a bit of a faff to calculate the points in the end. But you will get quicker the more you do it. Cards are highquality.
