Definitely worth it
This model was our replacement for our previous foodsaver which stopped working after at least YEARS of use. The newer model is much sleeker and I love that it is designed to be stored either horizontally or vertically. Please note that you have to push on either side of the lid with a decent amount of pressure to get them to latch. At first I thought the unit was broken but I just wasn’t pushing hard enough (for fear of breaking it). Once we figured that out I was very pleased with the ease of use and strength of the vacuum. Would buy again!

It works as well as my old one, but …
I have had a Foodsaver for about a decade, but my old one finally died. Being an inquisitive engineer, I took it apart to see if I could fix it. I looked for quite a while and finally found a piece of broken plastic. It was too small to try to repair, and any kind of repair I tried would involve glue, and it probably wouldn’t last because the assembly involved, by design, is subjected to a great deal of shear force. It was a poor design in my engineering opinion, as a part like that should have been metal.I shopped on Amazon for a new one and found one similar to my old one but it was over $200. The smaller one that I purchased was only about $100 and it performs perfectly. That is it sucks all the air out of the bag and seals it without any leaks. My old unit had a built-in sliding blade to cut a section from rolled bag material. I was very handy to have it right there on the unit. This new small unit does not have such a convenient feature. You have to use a scissors. Another thing I miss is the locking mechanism on the old unit. It had an easy to turn lever that one turns to lock the lid in place to hold the open end of the bag in place. On the new small Foodsaver, there is a latch on each side of the unit. You put the bag in place, lower the top, then push down very hard on one side then the other until you hear a click indicating that this side you’re pushing on is latched. Again, the amount of force required to lock each side is very significant. I measured it and it was around 15-16 pounds force.It may seem like I’m complaining a lot and don’t like my purchase. Not so! I miss the slicer and the easy to use locking mechanism of the old, larger unit, but I’m strong enough to operate the latches and I keep a scissors by the unit. More good news is that it’s smaller and more attractive than my old Foodsaver. My wife appreciates that, and a white Foodsaver blends in with our kitchen better than the old black one. Individuals with lesser strength might have a problem with the latches, but the good news is that Amazon cheerfully refunds the cost of returned purchases. Save the box and packing materials until you’ve used it for a while.

Hard to close, great price
Great price!I seem to need a new Food Saver every 5-6 years. My most recent unit still worked OK, but the accessory hose attachment refused to attach (and I use that little hose a lot!). I have 2 accessory hoses and neither would stay in the port. Not sure what was up with that.Saw this unit and grabbed it. Got a functional accessory port, good price and seems to vacuum faster than my old unit.My only complaint is getting the lid to close. It’s a PITA. The directions say “close the lid”. HA! More like put your whole body weight on the lid and PUSH.

Great food Saver!
I can’t believe I lived so long before having one of these food savers. As a mom of 2 now grown – I was always big on buying in bulk (or o sale) to save money – but I only used freezer ziploc bags. But a lot of times the stuff got freezer burn. NO MORE! The food saver is easy to use – and no more issues with freezer burn

Lives up to expectations
I have had an older v2222 model foodsaver for 15+ years that recently died on me. I use this to split up fresh meat from the butcher and had put my old model through the wringer pretty good. It has sealed hundreds if not thousands of pounds of meat, veggies and various other items over the years as I buy in bulk multiple times per year. Served me well. When it came time to replace it, all the mew models had bag storage and I did not want that. This is the only “foodsaver” model I could find that did not have that option. Lots of off brands, but I wanted an actual foodsaver because I am brand loyal. This new machine has performed excellent over the last month and I just sealed up a large batch of chicken thighs in quite a few bags and it did great. Nice thick seal consistently. I will update this if it doesn’t live up to expectations, but so far it is doing a great job.

I bought this model based on a friend’s recommendation. I have been using this for a few months now and I love it. It is so much more efficient than trying to find bags and containers that fit the size of what you are freezing. This year instead of canning my tomato sauce I put it in vacuum bags and froze all of it. So much faster. Also works great for marinating, add meat and marinade and vacuum seal! Works much faster than conventional ways of just putting it in a container.

1. Nowhere in the description or photos does it even mention that this isn’t wired for Australian power or have an Australian plug.2. The package had obviously been opened and repacked. There were no instructions or even basic safety information included3. The whole thing just feels cheap and like a bad rip off product rather than a genuine FoodSaver???
