Great product with even Greater Customer Service
Bought this Kitchen Mama Auto 2.0 Electric Can Opener a year ago. Have been using it fairly often. Great for someone who had difficulty with a manual can opener. It has opened a lot of cans in a number of different shapes. Bought another one as a Christmas gift for a relative.After almost exactly one year, the opener developed a problem where the cutting mechanism remained closed after a use. This made it unusable. After a week or so, I decided to contact the company service website. I explained the problem and acknowledged that it was just past the 365 day warranty. !0 days over when I emailed them. I sent pictures showing the issue and asked if they would still cover it even though it was past the 365 day limit.Their service department quickly responded and are sending me a new opener. Outstanding. I was very happy with the opener and I am extremely satisfied with their warranty.Nothing but the best to say about the product and the company. Strongly recommend it to anyone.

Poor design, doesn’t work – Complete Fail!
Kitchen Mama Auto 2.0 Electric Can Opener.I, too, noted the previous 1 & 2 star reviews questioning this opener. Still the surprising number of positive reviews from numerous kitchen store sources AND the CR recommendation were enough for me to give this a try. Wow … boo! All these sources really need to revisit their tests and reviews.Complete Fail! We tried it twice and it never worked properly. First time, my wife simply gave up on it and went back to our old OXO. 2nd time I tried and it locked on and did it’s thing. It did cut the lid after 2 revolutions, BUT IT NEVER LET GO!! I mean, it latched on sooo tightly that NOTHING was prying that thing off. No amount of starting, stopping, lifting, tapping, kind words or not-so-kind words was going to get that thing to let go! Finally got it to come off through brute force, demolishing the can and cutting myself. I am absolutely dead serious about how tightly this thing was gripping the can. I was only 1 step away from getting the tin snips. When I say brute force I mean I really had to crank on it – I tore and bent the can metal in the process! I am absolutely dead serious about how tightly this thing was gripping the can. I was only 1 step away from getting the tin snips. I know now that would have been futile anyway. Even after I got the thing loose it never snapped back to it’s open position. FWIW, the can started out being in good condition, free from any visible dents or abnormalities.The biggest reason for my 1 star review is in the design flaw. Surprisingly, there is NO manual release! Every can opener I’ve used – manual or electric – have always had some mechanism for releasing the device manually. It happens with the best of these things – some odd little snag or dent in the can and it just hangs on a bit more than normal. Had I been able to release this opener manually I could have reseated it and tried again. Did I get a defective unit? Doubtful. Even if it was defective, that is a pretty big problem in design and quality control that I wouldn’t want to take a 2nd chance with.

This kitchen tool is amazing. It works just as described and leaves no sharp edges. Unfortunately…After 6 months it no longer works. We have probably used this product around a dozen times. Now it makes a clicking/grinding sound as if a gear is stripped inside.However, I contacted the vendor. They are 5 Star!!!!! I’d give them 10 stars if I could for their speed in responding and customer service. I would not hesitate to purchase from Kitchen Mama again. I expect the replacement unit will far outlast the first.I first contacted them on 5 November. After a few very quick email responses the replacement shipped on 8 November.Thank you, Kitchen Mama

A unique and clever hands-free design!
I like this can-opener a lot. When my last ergonomic can-opener got too dull, I decided to look into electric again, and boy have they changed since I was a kid! First of all, this cordless design is small and compact, and fits neatly into a drawer. It’s very comfortable to use, because it operates entirely hands-free; simply fit it over the edge of the can, push the button, and step back. The can opener finds its grip and the end lifts up as it opens the can. Push the button again once the can opener completes a full revolution. The can opener even has a magnetic plate on the bottom to grab the lid for you, and the lid is never sharp or jagged. It’s even cute, with its red and white color scheme! It’s a very fair price for such an easy-to-use, well-designed can opener. 10/10 will buy again.

My significant just had a stroke recently and has lost his non dominant left side. He lives alone and needed to open cans of food. Impossible with one hand! This has become a great tool in his independence!

RIP Kitchen Mama
Well, this was very different but when my old electric can opener died, I wanted to save on kitchen counter real estate by getting a new can opener that could be put in a drawer. Kitchen Mama did the trick – she doesn’t take up much room and fits nicely in my utensil drawer. It takes some getting used to and I wasn’t great at getting it set just right – sometimes I had a try a few times. It takes a little longer than a traditional can opener to complete the job. It is nice that it cuts below the rim of the can lid and there are no sharp edges. And it’s a conversation piece when people come over who haven’t seen such a thing. But it’s been a little less than a year of not-too-frequent use and she has opened her last can. The mechanism is bent which must have been happening slowly over time, and it will no longer attach to the lid properly and just makes a clicky whirring noise and goes nowhere. Had to toss it, and I reverted back to a traditional electric countertop can opener. Thanks for the fun memories, Kitchen Mama.

Great product, well made. Great customer service.Note: please be aware that this model does not shut off automatically like the previous Kitchen mama models. It circles and opens the can then stops circling once it reaches the start. A simple push of the start button stops the unit then lift off the unit with lid attached. Easy and opens cans perfectly. Ein tolles Teil. Seit ich es habe werden Dosen nur noch von unten geöffnet.Das einklinken in den Dosenrand geht problemlos. Leicht schräg halten und durch das drücken auf den Knopf startet er von alleine. Lustig anzusehen. Das hintere Teil hebt sich und dann fährt es von alleine um die Dose. Sobald es einmal rum ist verändert sich der Ton und man kann daran erkennen das man jetzt stoppen darf. Ansonsten würde er wohl ewig weiter drehen.Der Deckel ist völlig gefahrlos abzunehmen und die Dose lässt sich hervorragend wieder verschließen.Die Ränder sind rund und nicht scharf.Ich bin total begeistert und kann es nur empfehlen.
