Clever design, but lose adjustment of car vent
I really wanted a “home” for my cell phone in my car. It’s always getting lost: sometimes in my purse, sometimes on the seat, sometimes fallen onto the floor or between the seats, sometimes on the dash. Really annoying.Also, I use my phone as a GPS, and usually set it on the front passenger seat when I’m using it this way. Having it mounted is sure a lot safer than reaching down to the passenger side floor while driving, trying to retrieve my phone that has dropped down there…This is an interesting design concept; some aspects work well, others don’t. The installation photos in the product description helped, but weren’t enough for me: an installation video would be very much appreciated.I found that putting the clip so that it hooks “over-the-top” of the vent louver worked best. I tried various positions on the small vent of my Honda Fit Sport. It fits securely (once I figured out what to do), but I do lose the ability to adjust the vent when it is attached. I suspect the degree to which the vent adjustment ability is impeded will be different from vehicle to vehicle. It’s not hard to take on/off (again, once you figure out what to do) but I wouldn’t want to be doing it frequently.How does it hold the phone? The bottom back center has a little button that you push to “open the sides” and allow you to place your phone in the holder. Then, you just push gently on the sides to close them firmly arond your phone. You do get some angle and rotation adjustments. At the time of this writing, I’ve driven for about 30 minutes with my phone in this holder: the entire unit jiggles a little bit when going over bumps and such, but it seems secure to the vent, and seems to hold the phone securely.I do love having the phone mounted where I can see it easily when driving, with its easy-on-and-off design, but only time will tell how the loss of that vent adjustment goes.
