Very powerful laptop and great value
This is a surprisingly powerful laptop, especially considering the price. The 8 core Ryzen processor and 16GB of RAM is more than enough for typical office use. You can even do some mild gaming with it due to the Radeon graphics that are embedded in the processor, but you won’t want to try graphics intense games. The 15.6″ display has very good viewing angles and is very clear. The colors aren’t the most intense or accurate, but I’m also used to an HDR OLED display.I was surprised to see that it has a backlit keyboard. But the backlight has no levels, meaning it’s either on or off. The keyboard has a good tactile feel but some of the keys have an odd placement or function (such as the DEL key being combined with the NumLock key). The power supply they include is a basic barrel connector type but you can also power it with the USB C port. There are two DDR4 sodimm slots and it comes with a single 16GB module installed, so you could add more RAM if needed. Unfortunately the M.2 SSD they use is SATA based, even though it can support a NVMe drive. Changing to an NVMe drive would be fairly easy and would increase performance quite a bit. The drive comes partitioned split as a C: drive for the OS (Windows 11 Home) and a D: drive. I prefer all the drive space contiguous as a C: drive. I used a partition tool to remove the empty D: partition and expand the C: partition to use all the drive space. I took a look at the BIOS settings and they have it very locked down. You can only change a few minor options such as enabling or disabling CSM, TPM options, and setting the boot order. All other options are unavailable (such as adjusting the amount of RAM allocated for the GPU, etc). The BIOS is recent and dated November 20, 2024.The battery life is pretty good and should get you through an average day of use. I’m getting 7-9 hours depending on how I’m using it.The case is plastic, so you will need to use it with care as it’s not a business class style case and won’t be all that durable.
